• XMLTree.java DOM example that represents the basic structure of an XML document as a JTree. Uses the following files:
  • XMLFrame.java Swing application to select an XML document and display in a JTree.
  • ExtensionFileFilter.java Allows you to specify which file extensions will be displayed in a JFileChooser.
    • test.xml Default file loaded if none selected by user.
  • perennials.xml and perennials.dtd Data on daylilies and corresponding DTD.
  • WindowUtilities.java and ExitListener.java.
• SAXPrinter.java A program that uses SAX to print out the start tags, end tags, and first word of tag body of an XML file. Each nesting level is indented two spaces. Uses the following files:
  • PrintHandler.java Implements a DefaultHandler for handling the start, end, and characters of an element.

• CountBooks.java A program using SAX to keep track of the number of copies of Core Web Programming ordered. Uses the following files:
  • CountHandler.java Implements a DefaultHandler and provides startElement and endElement methods to identify and count the number of Core Web Programming books ordered.

• XSLT Document Editor - A Swing application for transforming XML and XSL into HTML. Uses the following files:
  • Note: xslt-editor.jar includes all files required for the XSLT Document Editor example.
  • XsltExample.java GUI for loading an XML and XSL document into separate editor panes. A third editor pane presents the XSL transformed result.
  • DocumentPane.java A JEditorPane for holding a document.
  • XslTransformer.java XSLT transformer.
  • perennials.xml, perennials.dtd, and perennials.xsl Daylily data, corresponding DTD, and style sheet.
  • XSLT-Instructions.html Default document for XSLT pane.

• XSLT Custom Tag - Performs XSLT transformation based on the browser type. Uses the following files:
  • Note: xslt-customtag.jar Contains all required files for XSLT custom tag example. Directory structure is suitable for Tomcat (unjar in TOMCAT_HOME/webapps/ROOT/ directory).
  • Daylilies.jsp Invokes the XSLT custom tag to build a table of daylilies.
  • XslTransformTag.java and xsltransform.tld A custom tag for transforming a XML file to HTML based on a style sheet, and corresponding Tag Library Descriptor.
  • XslTransformer.java Transforms the XML document.
  • perennials.xml and perennials.dtd Daylily data and corresponding DTD.
  • perennials-ie.xsl and perennials-ns.xsl Style sheets targeting Internet Explorer and Netscape, respectively.
